The Role
- You will define the technical direction of 5C's computer vision stack — the models that autonomously read millions of CT, MRI, X-ray, and mammography scans per year. This is the most senior individual contributor role on the AI team.
- You won't just train models. You'll decide which problems to solve, how to architect the solution, and what clinical-grade accuracy looks like. You'll work directly with radiologists, set research priorities, and mentor the applied science team.
What You'll Own
- Define the research roadmap for 5C's vision AI — which modalities, pathologies, and architectures to invest in next
- Design and build novel architectures for medical image understanding: multi-scale detection, volumetric segmentation, cross-modal fusion
- Establish evaluation methodology that translates model metrics into clinical outcomes
- Lead technical reviews and set quality bars for model releases
- Publish research and represent 5C at conferences (MICCAI, RSNA, CVPR)
- Mentor senior and mid-level scientists — raise the technical bar across the team
You Should Have
- 8+ years of applied research in computer vision or medical imaging
- Track record of models deployed in production at scale — not just published, but shipped
- Deep expertise in at least two: 3D volumetric analysis, vision transformers, multi-modal (image+text) models, self-supervised learning
- Strong publication record (top-tier venues: CVPR, ICCV, MICCAI, NeurIPS, or equivalent)
- Experience leading technical teams or mentoring researchers
- Fluent in PyTorch; experience with distributed training, mixed-precision, and production inference optimization
