The Role
- Core Product Engineering builds and operates the radiology operating system at 5C: the platform that ingests, routes, reports, quality-checks, analyzes, and delivers imaging work across multiple geographies.
- We are hiring one Member of Technical Staff for this team. Your work will sit directly in the path of 5M+ scans every year today, with architecture that must scale toward tens of millions of annual scans without losing reliability, speed, or clinical trust.
- We are strongly biased toward candidates who can join quickly. If your notice period is short, your application will move faster because these teams are being built now.
What You'll Own
- Maintain and evolve the core infrastructure for scan ingestion, DICOM routing, assignment, reporting, QA, delivery, customer visibility, analytics, and internal operations
- Design APIs, data models, background jobs, queues, event flows, and operational dashboards that stay reliable under multi-geography clinical load
- Build platform primitives that let new radiology products launch without rebuilding routing, reporting, identity, notifications, permissions, observability, or auditability from scratch
- Develop agentic engineering loops that help product managers and operators turn workflow intent into safe, reviewable product changes
- Build self-healing code and operational automation: failure detection, triage, rollback, repair suggestions, regression checks, and production guardrails
- Work directly with radiologists, operations, AI, and Provider Solutions engineers to turn recurring operational pain into durable product infrastructure
How We Work
- AI-assisted development is the baseline. We expect engineers to use modern coding agents fluently and responsibly
- Our stack: TypeScript, React, Node.js, Python/FastAPI, PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, Redis, AWS, observability tooling, and a growing set of agentic development and evaluation systems
- Small team, high ownership. You will be expected to understand the problem, choose the implementation path, ship, measure, and improve
- We ship quickly because clinical delays matter. We also build with reversibility, observability, and respect for production healthcare systems
You Should Have
- 1-10 years of strong software engineering experience, or equivalent proof through shipped products, open-source work, or serious projects
- Strong fundamentals in product and platform engineering: APIs, frontend architecture, database modeling, background jobs, distributed systems, and production debugging
- Fluency in TypeScript or Python, with willingness to work across both
- Good taste in internal and expert-user tools. You should care when a workflow requires one click too many, and when automation hides too much from the user
- A public GitHub profile, portfolio, or work sample that demonstrates depth
Even Better If You Have
- Experience with healthcare IT systems: DICOM, HL7, FHIR, PACS/RIS
- Experience with infra, queues, event-driven systems, WebSockets, ClickHouse, or high-throughput operational systems
- Experience building agentic software systems, AI-assisted workflow products, evaluation pipelines, or developer tools
- Contributions to open-source projects
Why 5C
- 5C is one of the best places to work for serious, engaged builders. We are a leading company in agent-driven software development and a leading business in AI for medical imaging at the same time
- You will work on systems that move from code to clinical impact unusually quickly: reports delivered faster, radiologists made more effective, hospitals able to serve more patients
- Resumes are not important. Proof of work and proof of a high learning rate matter more. Show us systems you built, products you shipped, open-source work, customer outcomes, or unusually strong side projects
- We are strongly biased toward candidates who can join quickly. If your notice period is short, your application will move faster because these teams are being built now.
