DICOM viewer comparison

RadDream vs RadiAnt

Two DICOM viewers. One you install on a Windows PC, one that runs in any browser with AI and reporting already in it.

Last updated: October 2026

TL;DR

RadiAnt DICOM Viewer (Medixant, Poland) is desktop software for Windows 7–11, sold after a free trial as a time-based or permanent license, with MPR, 3D volume rendering and PET-CT fusion; it has no native Mac version, and its terms say it is not certified as a medical product. RadDream (5C Network, India) is a browser-based viewer with nothing to install and the reading room inside 5C's platform, with Bionic AI findings on the image and the report editor one click away.

Choose RadiAnt for a fast viewer on one Windows PC or for opening CDs offline. Choose RadDream if you want the viewer, the AI and the reporting as one system on any computer: it is the viewer for every study 5C's 400+ specialist radiologists read.

The key difference

Should you install a viewer or open one in the browser?

RadiAnt is built for one desk. A radiologist created it after watching colleagues struggle with slow patient-CD viewers, per Medixant, and it shows: install it on a Windows PC and you get MPR, 3D, PET-CT fusion and a local archive for studies from CDs, USB drives and PACS. For one doctor at one workstation, especially offline, that is a strong setup.

A desktop viewer stays on its desktop. The studies live on that PC, there is no native Mac version, AI and reporting come from somewhere else, and RadiAnt's own terms say it is not certified as a medical product and should not be used to interpret and report studies.

RadDream is built for a reading room. It opens in a browser on any computer, Bionic AI has pre-read the study, its findings sit on the image, the draft impression is beside it and the report editor is one click away. Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between RadiAnt and RadDream?

RadiAnt DICOM Viewer, made by Medixant in Poznan, Poland, is desktop software you install on a Windows PC to open studies from CDs, USB drives, folders or a PACS. RadDream, made by 5C Network in India, is a browser-based viewer with nothing to install, and the reading room inside 5C's platform: Bionic AI findings sit on the image, the report editor is one click away, and 400+ specialist radiologists read in it every day. RadiAnt is a viewer for one computer; RadDream is a reading room in the browser.

Is RadDream a good RadiAnt alternative?

For hospitals and diagnostic centers that want AI and reporting in the same screen as the images, and want to read from any computer, yes. RadDream comes with 5C's platform. If you are an individual doctor who wants a fast desktop viewer on one Windows PC, or you need to open patient CDs offline, RadiAnt is built for that and RadDream is not.

Does RadiAnt work on Mac?

Not natively. RadiAnt's website lists Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10 and 11, and its macOS page says Medixant does not officially support RadiAnt on operating systems other than Windows. It suggests CrossOver Mac as a workaround and warns that some features may be unavailable or may crash. A browser-based viewer such as RadDream runs on a Mac with nothing to install.

Is RadiAnt DICOM Viewer free?

RadiAnt is available as a free trial, per its website. The trial expires after a set period and needs reactivating, and the trial version may show a startup window and a small banner. For continued use Medixant sells a time-based license or a permanent license with 12 months of updates. Check radiantviewer.com for current terms and prices.

Can RadiAnt be used for diagnosis?

RadiAnt's own terms say the program is not certified as a medical product and should only be used to view images, not to make diagnostic and therapeutic decisions or to interpret and report imaging studies. On 5C's platform, Bionic AI and the Prodigi RIS are licensed by CDSCO as Class B medical devices in India, and every report is reviewed and signed by a radiologist.

Is there a RadiAnt alternative with AI?

RadDream is one. It is 5C Network's browser-based viewer with Bionic AI built in: findings appear on the image with a draft impression beside it. On chest X-rays Bionic AI covers 74 pathologies with a 0.93 F1 score in peer-reviewed research. RadiAnt's website does not list AI features.

Do RadiAnt and RadDream support MPR, 3D and PET-CT fusion?

Yes, both do. RadiAnt's website lists MPR, 3D volume rendering, PET-CT fusion with SUV measurement, digital subtraction angiography and time-intensity curves. RadDream includes MPR, curved MPR, 3D volume rendering, MIP and PET-CT fusion, in the browser.
